I am concerned about the current direction of the city. Just a feeling that things are not right. I am concerned about the mounting debt, the fact that they are not being open about the plans they are making for downtown and city services are not living up to the “First in Service” motto that was such an important part of what the city has been, and they are jumping into the culture wars when that is not the city government’s role. It just all adds up to too much.
As former City Manager Tom Leath often told council when I was a young councilman
“How you manage the city finances when they are flowing well is how well you will survive a downturn when it comes and it will come”
For 16 years I worked to bring people together, to create an atmosphere where our business community thrived because they felt included in the decisions that effected them, I worked to keep taxes low and cut red tape and unnecessary regulations and always I put taking care of our residents needs first. I would like to go back on council to continue those efforts into the future.
